FINNEY & WEBSTER — LONG BIO (approx. 300 words) Finney & Webster are a Celtic music duo rooted in the soil of Nova Scotia, Canada — a partnership between two musicians who have each made the Atlantic their home and their inspiration. Their music draws from the living traditions of Scotland, Ireland, and Atlantic Canada: lyrical fiddle airs, driving reels and jigs, richly harmonised songs, and original compositions that feel as though they have always existed. Jeremy Finney is a Nova Scotia-based fiddler and composer whose playing sits at the lively crossroads of Irish traditional music and the Atlantic Canadian sound. His debut solo album, Tip the Bottle, released in 2018 and recorded at Joel Plaskett's New Scotland Yard studio in Dartmouth, earned a nomination for Music Nova Scotia's Traditional/Roots Album of the Year. The record featured esteemed guests including Mohsen Amini on concertina, Torrin Ryan on uilleann pipes, and Ellen Gibling on harp. Jeremy's playing is at once lyrical and powerful, moving effortlessly between fervent slow airs and rousing tune sets, with a composer's ear always alert to melody and structure. Andy Webster grew up immersed in the Scottish music tradition and carries that deep connection across the Atlantic. An exceptionally versatile musician, Andy accompanies on guitar and bouzouki with a rhythmic drive and harmonic richness that bring out the best in any tune. His singing draws from the great well of Scots and Celtic song, and his original compositions reflect both the old world and the new — bridging Scotland and the Maritimes with grace and feeling. Andy has played and recorded with artists including Dougie MacLean and Leahy, and has been described by producer Paul Mills (Stan Rogers, Natalie MacMaster) as "truly one of the very best accompanists I have ever seen." Together, Jeremy and Andy create something greater than the sum of its parts: a full-bodied, captivating sound built on deep mutual respect for the music and for each other. Finney & Webster perform regularly across Atlantic Canada and beyond, at concert halls, festivals, and the intimate house concert settings they love most. --- Press enquiries: info@finneyandwebster.com www.finneyandwebster.com
